Drivable Star Wars Landspeeder

This Star Wars Landspeeder is a full-sized, drivable, replica built by Daniel Deutsch, who designed his version from the ground up. Neatorama dug up this 1:1 scale speeder, which has a custom aluminum chassis, fiberglass body, and an electric drive system that hits Light-Speed at 40kph (25 mph)

I personally think these guys have way to much time on their hands but if this is your cup-a-tea then so be it.

MythBusters Build a 1100-Barrel Paintball Gun to Paint the Mona Lisa, in 80 milliseconds

A presentation made at graphic's card computer show this week.

Adam and Jamie unveiled a 1100 barrel paintball gun and in 80 milliseconds painted a pretty convincing Mona Lisa.

In typical MythBusters fashion, the incredibly elaborate experiment was only tenuously linked to their hypothesis.

The presentation was intended to represent the difference in operation between single and multicore processors, referring to current gen CPUs versus GPUs, respectively.

Of course, the reality of parallel computing is much more complex than the MythBusters are making it seem here, but as with many of the experiments on their TV show, the sheer ridiculousness of this demonstration makes its questionability excusable.

Are you a Taxi for your kids?

Are you a Taxi for your kids if so you will love the 'The Dad's Cab Meter'

The meter incrementally increases the pretend fare and comes with a stack of fare receipts that have chores the kids can do as payment. (hehehe)

Dad's Cab is $18, but in the grand scheme of things, mortifying your children is priceless.

The Kintai Bridge

The original kintai bridge was built in 1673 and didn’t stand very long until it was damaged due to flooding.

It was then rebuilt and survived for more than 200 years until a typhoon battered it to death in 1950.

The bridge that stands now over the nishiki river is the 3rd build and looks magnificent, it’s 5 wooden arches displaying an incredible amount of detail and craftmanship.

Interesting fact: No nails or Bolts have been used to build the arches, only clamps and wires.

City-In-a-Ziggurat Could House a Million Dubaians and Power Itself

A design firm in Dubai called Timelinks has proposed designs for the Ziggurat, a complete city to be layered inside of a massive pyramid that could serve as home for a million people at a time.
They've also claimed that with a hybrid wind, solar and steam power the Ziggurat would be able to meet its own power needs, and that there would be enough room to allow for some minor agriculture in designated "green spaces."

Timelinks has already patented the design and technology incorporated into the project and has applied to the European Union for a grant for technical projects.

The intriguing mixed use concept will be unveiled at Cityscape Dubai which takes place at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from 6-9 October 2008.

Hydrophobic Sand aka "Magic Sand"

I’ve never heard of this before maybe I should have done chem in High School.
Apparently Magic Sand was originally developed to trap ocean oil spills near the shore. This would be done by sprinkling Magic Sand on floating petroleum, which would then mix with the oil and make it heavy enough to sink. However, due to the expense of production, it is not being used for this purpose.

It has also been tested by utility companies in the Arctic areas as a foundation for junction boxes, as it never freezes.

It can be also used as an aerating medium for potted plants.

Due to its water repellence, grains of the sand will adhere to each other in the presence of water. When sprinkling grains onto the surface of water, they will at first form a "sand raft," until the weight of the agglomerate is large enough to break the surface tension. The mass will then sink to the bottom as a single object. When immersed, the sand forms columns in order to reduce the surface area in contact with water. As soon as the sand is taken out of water, it is completely dry and flows freely.

Aerogel, the World's Lightest Solid

DogPause Forces Your Pup To Slow Down When Eating

Have you ever gone to feed your dog, only to watch them devour it in a matter of minutes? Well apparently it’s just as bad for dogs to wolf down their food as it is for humans. To slow your pooch down you could always slowly give them more food, but that’s extra work for you. A better option might be this DogPause bowl.

This bowl has “SlowZones” which are simply raised areas of the bowl that intend to slow your pup down.

According to the information, it can slow down consumption by up to 50%. If you’re concerned about the way your dog eats, then this $18 investment might be what you need.

Woman to virtual ex: 'I won't be ignored!'

This has to be the weirdest and saddest crime-of-virtual-passion story I've come across.

The pair apparently met through the online community Second Life and began a virtual relationship. The two finally met in reality several months ago, and the alleged victim ended the relationship, sending Jernigan into a downward spiral.

In early August, Jernigan allegedly drove to the victim's Pennsylvania workplace and attempted to kidnap him at gunpoint, according to local news station CBS3.com. When she was unsuccessful, according to the report, she returned two weeks later to track down the victim's Delaware address, and posed as a postal worker to do so. After four days of searching, authorities said she found residence in the Whitney Presidential Towers on the 7100 block of Society Drive in Claymont.

On August 21, police said, Jernigan broke into the unnamed victim's apartment with a Taser, a pair of handcuffs, a BB gun, her dog, and a roll of duct tape. He wasn't there, so she waited. When the virtual ex arrived home he saw what looked like a laser beam projecting on his chest. He immediately fled the apartment and contacted the Newcastle County Police.

Burj Dubai - the tallest man-made structure on Earth

The Burj Dubai will be the tallest man-made structure on Earth expected to be completed and ready for occupation in September 2009.

The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about US$4.1 billion

As of 12 May 2008, Burj Dubai had reached a height of 636 m (2,087 ft), with 160 completed floors. Although the tower actually has risen higher since that time, no height increases will be officially reported until the tower is completed. So is still officially shorter than the Warsaw Radio Mast in Konstantynów near Gąbin, Poland (which stood at 646.4 m (2,121 ft) until it collapsed in 1991.

David Hobcote took some photo's with his Canon 1Ds Mark III on board a Bell heli to show us the current state of the Burj Dubai.
